yes, yes, i know that there have been <insert large number> posts about the pista, but i'm curious as to whether or not anyone has had problems with threads stripping on the '05 pista rear hub. i can say, with quite a bit of certainty, that i had the cog on very tight (chainwhip with a small amount of help from a cheater pipe -- very careful not to get it so tight that it backs up on the threads) and put the lockring on with the hozan lockring wrench -- as tight as i could do it without involving additional leverage. after riding pretty intensely for quite a while (3 or four months after switching cogs) and checking periodically for lockring looseness, all of a sudden the cog spun back about a half turn during a skid. i tightened everything back up and realized that the lockring thread closest to the cog (the one that butts up against the cog threads) is no more, so that when i tighten the lockring past a certain point (and it doesn't take much force), it loosens because it hits the end of its threads. i'm probably going to go buy another bottom bracket spacer and flip the cog with the flange faces the other way (for chainline issues) so that the lockring won't tighten past its (now) last thread. also, since i don't ever plan on messing with the ratio again, i'm probably going to locktite it as well.

has anyone else had similar problems with the pista hub having weak threads? i definitely doubt that they would replace the hub or wheel, so i'm kind of SOL on this one. i would use the other fixed side, but the lockring threads on it were eaten by another lockring. grrrr
