I just keep adding oil to my chain. Run a rag over it once in a while to pick up excessive goo. I have'nt cleaned a chain in years.

I see a lot of dry chains on bikes. Leads to a lot of wear on chainrings and sprockets. Better to overlube than underlube. Get your chains black and oily. Chainrings should be black and oily. A clean bike is one that is serviced more than ridden. Get 'em dirty boys.
