That would depend upon the bar type and/or how it is taped to begin with. I've seen many folks go with no tape on the majority of their track bars and smallish grips on just the ends. That style would be conducive to mounting a lever up near the stem that could easily be removed. You could probably put some tape underneath so that it doesn't scratch the bar. Pretty easy to take rubber grips on and off, so this is a possibility for you.
