Did you read the OP? There is a difference between someone striking up a conversation out of genuine curiosity and someone passive aggressively dumping their hatred of cyclists on you under the guise of interest. I can't speak for everyone in this thread but this is how I understood it.
I also read the OPs post where he verbally flipped off a guy that was trying to be polite.
