I was all set on getting the Zinn book, but on Amazon there are some reviews that it is way too basic, especially in their section on deraileures. Said it was so basic that anyone trying to use the book's instructions might actually mess it up worse. I know it seems overly cautious, but to be honest...the wife isn't real happy about all the money I've spent lately on my new hobby (shoes, pedals, wheels, jerseys, seat...). I have to make sure every single penny is worth it. I'd hate to buy Zinns, and then find out that Joe Blow has a much better book.
