Bikes: xtracycle, electric recumbent, downtube folder and more

If you have all this extra energy while pedaling to recharge your battery, why don't you get rid of the motor and just pedal? A lot more efficient to have a direct drive like your legs. The regen mode on the Bionx is exactly what you are looking for. The 'braking' effect you feel is the motor doing work which creating electricity which is recharging your battery. To light an led lamp doesn't take much electricity which is why hub generators work for bike lights. To move an entire bike and rider takes a lot of work (watts) and you know how much work that is (if you have ever pedaled a bike). You can't just wish physics away (unfortunately).
