My GPS shows the speed limits of most (but not all) road. This is useful information as a driver trying to stay legal. As a cyclist... ... not so much IMO. The speed of motor traffic is hardly the deal-breaker speaking for myself. Most municipalities limit the speed of town traffic to ~25mph. Bigger roads have 35 and 45. Google will show you the relative sizes of most roads and you should be able to figure out what speed of traffic they carry pretty easily. Where I live that might mean adding 3 miles(!) to a trip just to avoid a stretch of 35mph traffic... I don't know about you but for me that means drinking that can of "Handle It" and going out there with confidence.
