I'd buy an R1 and keep the FJR, but to me supersport ergos are terrible for street use. I want something that I can ride 200-400 miles comfortably. Even with short breaks and bar risers, I don't think I'd be up for riding an R1 all day long.
Nice FJR. R1's rule for sure...but...way overkill on the street IMHO and completely agree about the ergos.

Since you mentioned Triumph and new forthcoming Speed triple that you will pay dearly for when the new model comes out...consider picking up a slightly used one for a song. Bang for buck, a pretty hard bike to beat for the money...used in particular. Has way more power than you can use...don't see a reason to get the 'new and improved' ST when the current one is already a hooligan's delight.

I take a different approach as I like to keep my license and have slowed down a bit...an aging hooligan. Below is my triumph...remake of the Triumph Bonneville of the 60's...the bike that started the superbike craze really prior the Honda CB750 and now all the fairing clad offspring.
My '09 bike is EFI with 4V/cyl and counter rotating shafts to quell pesky vertical twin vibration. This bike is superior to the orignal is every way and what you see is pretty much modified aka cafed front to back albeit without rearsets as I prefer a standard riding position on the street.
If you get into Triumph's there is a French genius who wrote software that allows complete access to the ECU for ignition and air fuel mapping 'for free'...don't need a Power Commander or Tuneboy...pretty remarkable.
Ride safe....
