I prefer to ride with no pedals at all.
Seriously though, its hard to use the argument of 'it would be more practical if you...' with this crowd, since overall practicality rarely plays too big of a role in our choices.

PS Riding with no pedals is reaaaaly hard, try it sometime. Then when you get good at it, you can be the hardest core messenger/poesenger in town.
