One thing that confuses me a little about this mushroom pin thing (and I have read it elsewhere and it seems to make good sense) is that by using the chain tool to push the pin halfway out isn't that end of the pin having its mushroom head compromised? It too is being forced through and would seem to be altered by so doing.
