6 week lead time is pretty common with manufactured parts. I work in customer service and it is never a happy thing to tell a customer that his badly needed replacment part has a 6 - 8 week lead time from our supplier.

With the way things are right now, no one wants to keep much inventory, and I can not say I blame them.
