As far as DnvrFox's comments about accountants are concerned, I'll come clean and admit I am a CPA. There was a time when the list of professions people admired and trusted the most had public accountants right at the top, just below priests. Now we are at the bottom, just above priests. I think to a large extent the profession brought it upon themselves when they started putting the interests of their clients and themselves above the interests of the public starting sometime in the 70's. But this is 50+, not P&R so I'll say no more ...
