Perhaps we touring cyclists are different in that we often travel alone or in very small groups and find a mirror more of an aid that those in a peloton, but the danger of being struck from behind remains, no matter the type of cycling a person does and as long as a cyclist does not use a mirror, they will never know what is behind them until it passes them or until something happens...

Thankfully 95% of the traffic that passes us by is not a problem, but it's the other 5% that is...

What bothers me the most is people to whom it seems to make sense that certain things are dangerous or that certain things are essential for safety, but can't for the life of them understand that there are people who are perfectly rational and intelligent who disagree with them. Mirrors, helmets, yadayadayada
