Some states have no helmet requirement at all... yet motorcyclists still have 2 mirrors.
Your next argument is going to about the speed of motorcycles. Cyclists can and do also travel at the speed of all other traffic at times.

The fact is that when you use the roads, you should be as well informed about the situation around you as any other road user.
