For your bike, I'm surprised you need a new set of shifters. It sounds like the upgrade has gone as smoothly as we said.

For a bike the age of yours, that book is perfect. Newer repair books might not cover everything your bike has.

Sunrace is relatively new. I think they might have absorbed some of the old SunTour, but I can't be sure of that. What they make is ok stuff. Not always as good as the old stuff, but ok. Stay away from the indexed stuff unless you are planning to convert to indexed operation. The only exception is rear derailleurs,where derailleurs made for indexing do conventional shifting better than most conventional vintage derailleurs did.
