There is a big difference doing your own lead out at 27 which takes considerable effort, and following someone else's lead at 27 which takes considerably less effort hence leaving more energy for the sprint.
Before the first sprint I was going down a hill somewhere in the 30's, and I held it up at 27 when I reached the flats for a couple hundred feet. Then I sprinted. I figured having the hill do the initial accelerating up to 27 and then holding it for a couple hundred feet on the flat was at least a half way decent simulation. Who knows, my actual leadout max sprint could be lower than the simulation suggests.
