I guess that would be yes and no. It does sort of feel similar but you feel much higher up on the Raleigh. The riser bars on the mountain bike make it a unique experience. I have only ridden the Schwinn twice so I don't really have a feel for it yet.

I spent 3/4 of my day breaking it down and repacking bearings. Then I cleaned up most of the components and started reassembling it. The headset felt terrible, I have never felt "indexing" in a headset quite this bad. I replaced the caged bearings with loose balls and the headset feels reasonably smooth now. I inspected the races and they looked ok to the naked eye, it might have been installed too tight.

Thanks everyone for the comments and great suggestions. I wish mine had those sweet roller cam brakes but I have my handful adjusting cantilevers for the first time ever.
