I've used a Chrome Ranchero for a couple of months, and although it is a great bag, I didn't find it very good for cycling.
My main complaint would be the shape, which is wide at the top, and although this adds to the 'cool' messenger bag style backpack look, it makes it difficult to look over your shoulder behind you. I still really like that bag, and use it regularly whenever i need to carry alot of stuff, but rarely use it when cycling. I don't see anything that the chrome bags offer the cyclist that are not available in other bags for less $(except for the fashion part). For cycling use, I now use a day-pack made for hiking that was designed with outdoor activities in mind and have not looked back. Back pack tech has come a long way, and if you want a bag that _you_ find comfortable, you really got to get out there and try bags on.
FWIW, I've never liked messenger bags for riding either.
