It just occurred to me this morning that I might get a similar lowering of overall gearing by changing out my crank. Velobase says my Aero Mighty won't accept a chainring smaller than the current 42T inner ring. I was thinking of using a touring crank with smaller chain rings, maybe a touring double or a triple. If I found a good triple I'd remove the inner smallest chainring. Might not even have to change out the BB.
