I'm surprised pickup trucks are the new buses, can we make anymore useful comparisons? I guess both use diesel and somebody drives them.
A creative narrative about Good Roads, but we should be blaming the Romans instead of the bicycle for creating the idea of a road funded by the public. Personally, I suspect the Romans would disqualify the majority of our modern highways as not being in the spirit of res publica. The major reason for disqualification is the current disproportionate level of funding to support private use(automobiles to walmart) far exceeds the common use(commerce transport) - It is particularly glaring in light of the growing number of those who can't belong to the class which benefits from the higher road taxes(car owners) and yet are still prohibited from using the most expensive roads we build by an ever increasing lack of provisions for alternatives.
