I'm on the Davis team! =D
Most of them weren't there today, they're up in Bodega for a mini-camp. I had to work and couldn't make it up there. It was a smaller field today, maybe 40-ish?
The field got over confident this week, guys wanted to "win" rather than just enjoy a neutral field. I thought that a faster (it felt faster to me) pace would string the field out a little better but... No, guys were nudging WAY too far inside on corners then straightening out and forcing the outside riders to either rapidly make space for them or if they were unkind, pinch them off and let their mistakes lead to what they will. I saw people shakily laying on people trying to take wheels, jumping hard through corners (inside shape lines). Mostly things that require a very advanced skill set that Cat 5's just don't possess, or perhaps things that just shouldn't be done in a friendly race.
I hope it calms down next week, I know I'm certainly thinking that a no-points, short-crit, just for fun win isn't worth season ending injury or worse yet...damaging my bike!
