I managed to brake right in front of the carnage during the Cat 5 30+. Unfortunately, someone rear-ended me and knocked my wheel out of alignment. But I feel lucky to have emerged unscathed. But I that's two for two with wheel incidents.
A friend of mine warned me to stay on the outside during crits to avoid problems. But the way people were bunching up coming out of the corners, I felt much safer on the inside. Every time the pack would slow I would easily spin up to near the front. Fortunately, the last surge right before the crash left me a little further back.
At least the cornering clinic kept everyone thinking about their lines in the corners.
