Good point John R. If we do that, we'd live to be 100 years old; but, it will seem like 200 (to paraphrase Churchill).

If we are careful, diligent and disciplined, we can limit the risk of both Road Cycling and Mountain Biking, both of which are wonderful sports and have their own merits. Neither of these are without risk, but not many things are.

I rode GMR for the first time the day Kevin Unck died. While I didn't know him, I have thought a lot about him and what happened that day. And about the cyclist injured on the bike trail in HB.

And I decided to do what I think Mr. Unck would do if he were in my shoes and learned that a rider died--keep riding and spend some extra time with my family and dear friends and try not to take life for granted and to focus less of my attention on the future and more on the present.

I learned last night that a memorial ride is scheduled for this Saturday in his honor:

Kevin Unck Memorial Ride
