Year License or 1-day?

Hello All -

My first race is the Poor College Kids Road Race in Los Olivos, CA. It's a 34-mile road race next Saturday the 29th. Any BF'ers doing that race? I think I saw UMD's name in the 3's.

Anyway, my question is whether I should show up and buy a 1-day license, or purchase the year license beforehand. A lot of advice I have gotten on here is to "try it out" before doing anything big related to racing (equipment purhcases, etc.). So I thought I would do a race, get the 1-day and see how I like it, and decide later whether it would be worth it to buy the year. Then again, a lot of people's first races seem to involve them getting dropped...

I thought I read in the rulebook (or somewhere on USAC's site) that money paid towards 1-day licenses can be applied toward the year license later, but I don't think I saw anything about upgrade points transfering over.

What do you guys think?
