I thought I saw a twitter post with the #yegbike hashtag linking to a city of Edmonton webpage that states that the city will plow the multi use paths once they have at least 5 cm of snowpack. My commute doesn't involve very much of our limited MUP system so I can't say whether this is true or not, but I DO know that with all the snow recently it did not appear that the MUPs were a priority to the city. The Sask Drive one was a mess (it may be plowed now, haven't seen it since Tuesday) and even the High Level was not plowed at that time (but they are USUALLY pretty good about plowing the bridge). The whole 'biggest snowfall in 20 years' situation is taking a toll on us. Road/sidewalks might be a better option, at least most residents will clear their sidewalk pretty quickly after a snowfall.

Apparently if you call 311 you can also request additional plowing if one of the paths on your route seems to be neglected even long after the snow falls, but I'm not sure how responsive they are.
