I have one 1x7 with a wide range Freewheel and a rapid rise RD that I use a rapid fire shifter with and I love it for trail riding. I use it to get me into the thick when searching for fresh water ponds to fish. I also built up a bike for a friends wife out of spare parts that's 1x7. ( I post more pics of this bike then any other I own) I have beat on my fishing bike pretty hard when not loaded and I never had the chain come off, I am running a FMF BMX crank with a 3/32" ring. I set it up like this so I would be able to down shift fast when riding uneven terrain.
