+1, that stem is absolutely grotesque. A hint to the OP: quill stems with welded construction are NOT "good looking quill stems." Nitto is about the only current manufacturer of nice, elegant, quill stems. But ebay has plenty of used or NOS Cinelli's, 3T's, etc.
