I for one like having a label on the tire because i can line it up with the tube valve, and it helps to locate flats from punctures because the tube and the tire then have a point of reference in common.

but as someone else suggested, i would think that some light and careful sanding could make quick work of removing any tire label without hurting the tire itself.
