Any road cyclist who uses 'performance' in the same sentence as 'braking' doesn't understand what real braking is, and bicycles aren't in that discussion. There is no such thing as a 'panic stop' on a bicycle. In road cycling there's 'panic' followed by 'crash'.
Don't worry about it.
In the meantime you want a bike with brakes that actually work worth a damn, get a motorcycle.
