Yeah, that's what I'm wondering. Some of the designs are just comical, and they fail, but sometimes a design is working fine and it just starts over. There's something to this thing that I don't get.
I think that would be a "mutation." Most mutations are not good -some work out.
They are "breeding" the population amongst a certain number of "survivors" I think, and the offspring have some of the traits of the parents. Then there are the mutations which introduce new and different traits into the population.
