Is the spline pattern the same? One could file down the splines on a 9 speed cog to the spline depth of an 8 speed freehub if that's the case, yea?

I'm not arguing, just curious if this is what the guy meant when he mentioned filing a 9spd down to fit an 8speed freehub.
