You're not going to notice a difference in performance between $300 track arms and $40 used road arms on a 6 mile commute. My suggestion is to spend the money where you will notice the difference. i.e. saddle, wheels, tires, handlebars/tape, etc. Or invest toward your comfortable retirement or something; don't let the money burn holes in your pockets.
p.s. or you can accessorize! Do you have a nice set of lights? How about a nice rain/wind jacket? Spoke cards? Holga 120N?
