nope, still incorrect. Take it from someone who rides a bare carbon saddle all day long - the chamois is about padding. You are correct in that it doesn't do anything to protect bloodflow, but if was just for moisture management you wouldn't need a chamois at all - just a moisture wicking material. There are definitely some shorts that I have that are more comfortable with my saddle - that is definitely a padding issue.
I usually like thinner chamois, but I had some Sugoi RS bibs that had a pretty thick chamois that was really nice.
Your riding a carbon saddle, of course any piece of padding is going to provide comfort!
Take a look at how many people are doing 70.3s are wearing trishorts with minimal padding. It kind of makes you think twice about "needing" thick padding.
