"Chain noise" only over bumps

Really sorry if this has been asked already....I'm sure it has LOL.

Well I just put my new bike together about 3 days ago (40 miles) and Shes a very smooth girl (Reynolds 531). At speed all I can hear is tires on the road! Until I hit a minor bump. The chain will rattle/shake. Its kind of unsettling, my chain only has about .75" of wiggle room.
I didn't hear this on my old beater (Alum Frame) Could it be the Steel flexing? Or do I just need to take a link out of my chain? Running 48X16 rear axle is in the back of the dropouts. Will be upgrading to a 18t once I sell my old frame set.
p.s. Lets not start the chain tension wars over this
Thanks.
