So after 1 week with the CAAD9 5, I sat down with mapmyride.com and figured out my mileage.
But before we go too far there, I was on vacation all this week. Because I'm still a full-time student that didn't afford me the luxury of actually leaving to go anywhere exotic, so I thought I'd build up some base miles on Wednesday after class.
I rolled down to my son's doctors appointment to take the family to lunch at noon. From class to his doc's office was 15 miles. I rode the Araya there and we all drove afterward (my wife had the van) to Jason's Deli.
An hour later I threw on the cleats and tore down the coast for what was suppose to be an "open" ride.
4 hours later I rolled back in, clocking in at a total of 66.7 miles.
My observations. The CAAD9 is a lot rougher riding, but smoother shifting than my araya. I tend to sit in one gear on my araya and treat it like a single-speed. The 105 shifters are just sexy and snappy.
Took a few pics with my evo...

The shot with the barge in the background was funny. I raced that tug down 48 toward Port Isabel. I know it wasn't going fast, but I felt pretty good passing it. The other shot shows you just how flat it is here, which is misleading, the sub-tropical winds are constantly pushing from the north or south this time of year around 15-20 MPH constant.
