Eighth Inch and All City are the same cogs, but the Eighth Inch has the black coating on it. I think Alien also uses the same cogs, as many other companies probably do. I run an Eighth Inch and I like it, but the black coating doesn't really do anything because it wears off fairly quickly where the chain contacts the teeth.
