how thick does the adapter need to be? I was thinking something fabric on the container might work like a wristband or a sock etc. They probably sell some sort of thing like that for mugs if you don't want something ghetto. If it needs to be thicker than that maybe a thick piece of cardboard stuffed into the holder in the car would do the job.
The adapter would need to be about an inch thick - I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking of this, I just haven't looked to far yet. It's so much easier to ask questions on the internet than look myself!
