Riding across campus to go start the real riding. Hit a metal strip that is slippery when dry. Face first into the pavement. Resulted in a broken jaw and 12 stitches to my chin.

LessonS learned
1) never let your guard down...ever...
2) watch out for slippery things that don't look like they're slippery but with any luck probably are.
