Bikes: surly cross check

I commute on a Cross-check, but I only ride 15 rt. I ride in a cross race competition once a year when our local park opens up for bike races and I do a couple of short tours and one long tour every summer. The cc is probably not the best suited bike for the touring, but I have outfitted it with an axiom Journey rack and do not suffer from heel strike issues when carrying panniers

I do however occasionally run into some toe overlap on my front fender when I am commuting. This is a minor issue since it happens so rarely and the fender simply flexes a bit and returns to its original shape.

In the winter I run 700cx38 studded tires with full fenders, then I usually switch those out for 700c x 32s for the summer without much issue. I also strip the frame down and run as a single speed or fixie for winter commuting with a flip flop rear wheel.
