I was brought up that discussing prices paid for things, or one's salary, was rude.
I agree.
But during the times I have bicycled (I'm returning after a long hiatus) I talk about bicycling. I've had the same neighbors on a one block long cul-de-sac for 30 years and some of us talk about gardening, fitness, kids, etc when we visit with each other in front yards.
