Thank you. That's just an objective observation (that "some" people get too passionate about...unreasonably IMO).
Of course this means it would perform "worse" for the 7-14 mile family rides, which the OP said he was going to use it for.

Basically, it all boils down to this...the Motobecane is a $600. Ti frameset with $200. worth of OEM
components, a $1500. groupset and a set of leftover (2010) Mavic wheels that go for about $500.
It is an excellent value. For what it is. An entry level Ti frame adorned with solid components.
