1. Roadmaster Mtn Sport 2001 (Yes it is department store. No it is not a piece of ****.) with full fenders, rack, saddle packs, spiked collar...still got hybrid tires on it. I'm gettin slicks.
Weight weenies worst nightmare? Yours can't compete to mine. Forty pounds with no payload whatsoever.
I put touring on the poll, though, because this really isn't a mountain bike. It's got a looong wheelbase and I could make a chopper bike out of it easier than shorts out of pants.
2. Am I satisfied?
Yes. I adore my Roadmaster. I would wax it daily if I could afford the wax. I would keep it in a climate-controlled shed with shag carpeting and it's own internet and cable tv hookups if I could afford that, too. (of course I'd be living in the shed with the bike

)
Ever since I got it, it's given me none of the problems people claim department store bikes have. It's got a heavy frame, and that's the only sin. Anytihng on the bike, I can replace and fix at a tiny fraction of what people 'accept' the standard cost of a professional to do the same thing.
My Roadmaster keeps on rolling for pennies on the dollar...
I may have only had it four years but I've already put enough miles on it to go through three sets of tires and I've lost count how many brake pads...
/raves on about her wonderful roadmaster for three more pages.
