there is a little irony that bikes direct's target market is not one that is equipped to properly assemble a bike.


from what i have seen personally, and other accounts i have read, a bikes direct bike needs a fair amount of setup, disassembly, lubrication, reassembly, and torquing. if the shop plans to do a complete job i would say $80 is a very fair price.

LBS prices and bikes direct prices are not apples to apples. the LBS price has assembly, setup, and basic fitting included.
