I've got my bike, gloves and helmet, which is all I need to get started. I'm already in love. I'm looking into clothes and found http://cyclingdeal.com. My question may seem a bit naive. Most combos have team jerseys. What's the etiquette on wearing a team jersey?

tl;dr: Is wearing a team jersey looked down upon when you're not on the team?
Wear what you want because as Andy Somnifac pointed out, there will always be someone who will not like something or other, but you're riding for you not them so don't worry about it. Personally I don't wear kits for teams I don't ride for but don't look down on those who do. The best thing you can do as a new rider is learn how to handle your bike safely so you aren't a threat to yourself and other riders.

I'd wager that even the best runners felt odd in short shorts and the quickest swimmers crept meekly out of the locker room the first time they wore a speedo.

The moment you dress up like a superhero to ride what non riders consider to be a toy then it's much easier to leave your ego behind.
