I get the 'who cares what people think' aspect but after going to England and flashing what Americans call a "Peace sign" (a mistake I'll only make once), I try not barge into unexplored territory without knowing some guidelines.

WHen you do the peace sign in England, just make sure your palm is facing toward the person. Then it's the "victory" sign. With you palm facing towards you, it's the same as the middle finger in America. I lived in England from 83-86. You learn that one pretty quick. Also, a "f@g" is a cigarette and a "poof" is a *****exual. Two nations separated by a common language.
