At 5' 8" I dropped down from 156 down to 145~147 my first year racing...that made a huge difference. I didn't go into training shooting for a target weight, I just trained and watched the fatty foods, high calorie drinks.

I can't say I noticed a drop off in power as I spent quite a bit time working on 10min power and Muscle Endurance. After two seasons of racing I've spent most of this off season building pure power. I've come to realize that power is my single greatest limiter.

I'm kinda rambling here, but I think it might be better to just focus on training and not so much focus on a target weight. Between training and proper diet your race weight will find you. Hitting your target weight won't help if you can't match the surges and recover under stress.

I just started Base 3, so I hope you're not just getting started.
