I fall into that camp. I figured that he'd ignore my advice, but hopefully it will be useful for someone else.
I haven't given up on him yet, with the exception of the carbon stem/bar combo. He is determined to use that thing so I give up on that one. Other than that in still hopeful that some of the good advice he has been given will get through to him.
I'm a firm believer that he is a good guy and trying to be a better one.
