Yes, there was even the added effect of sparks shooting out from whatever material was in the pads igniting as they melted and braking force started to become non-existent. I also, like an idiot, decided to touch the pads... youch! This was mtbing down an extremely steep, but relatively short decent ( i had the brake levers pinned the whole way )
