Yeah. I haven't even gotten to take it for a long ride yet. I just took it out for a quick ride because it was evening and getting dark. so i went down to the spring water corridor. which is a bike/jogging path thats roughly 25-30miles long, and follows a creek. nice smooth pavement two lanes wide. No motor vehicle traffic of course.

I got on and was messing around trying out all my gears because i had just had the LBS adjust the deraillieurs. After i had ridden say 1/4 on the path. I glance over my shoulder, and to my surprise another cyclist is about to pass me, kind of a good thing i checked, as i was drifting into the "passing" lane. So he passed me and of course. The first thing i thought was: I gotta keep pace with this guy and see what kind of shape i'm in. I've been off any kind of ride bike for around 4 months. still been riding my DH MTB at the local butte. which is a 40lb beast of a bike.

So i just held pace with him for a ways. then we come to an intersection that crosses a road. He makes the gap between the traffic and i miss it. so i slow down and wait for traffic to allow me to go. I cross and begin accelerating to catch back up to the fellow cyclist. Which wasn't to hard, but he wasn't really trying to push it at that point, as he was getting a drink off his water bottle. He then glanced bank and noticed i wasn't rushing past him. so I'd assume he was figuring i was just some guy one his new road bike, feeling like Lance Armstrong, Lol.

He slowly began increasing his pace, probably thinking he was going to drop me without any issue. The only reason i say this, is because he would glance back and noticeably increase his pace. I think we probably got up to about 20-22mph and held steady at that for say 2-2 1/2 miles. Then i suddenly notice his speed diminish to say 18-20mph?. so i slowly begin passing him. Do the usual check to see what kind of bike he was riding, Fuji. I say the Usual hey, hows it goin. He says good and the same in return was asked to me. I say good, and accelerate past him and hang off to the left of the path to see if he wants to. I don't know race a little? i'm not sure what my speed was after i passed him but i would guess 25mph for the last mile of pathway before it reaches another road crossing. When i got here i decided i was turning around and going home before i threw up my dinner i had just eatin 15 mins prior to this whole ordeal. so he rolls up along side me and says. nice pace. I say thanks, its been awhile. At the same time i'm turning around to go back home. So i yell out "have a good one" and again get the same in return.

Fun little experience and it was not negative in anyway. i appreciated having someone to Coax me into pushing it a little when i had expected to just do a short leasure ride to try out the new bike. Seemed like he enjoyed having a little challenge as well. So it was a good time had by all.

Cool story Bro's?
