I had a mag for years and thought it was fine (p.s. there's no need for a mag with on-the-fly resistance changing ability because you can just change gears on the bike).

Even so, I now have a fluid trainer and like it better. If you want a quiet operating trainer, you might think about Supergo's model that comes with the elastomer-covered roller. I got it on sale and it is very quiet. The only caution with the rubber roller, so I was told, is that you don't want to apply the rear brake to stop the wheel or you'll wear the surface.
